Root Cause Session
60–90 minutes to understand what is driving the pressure, and what to address first.
individual work
Best for
A situation you have been turning over alone, when something is clearly no longer working but it is not yet clear what kind of problem it is.
You might recognize this.
- You come back from a good vacation, and within two days the exhaustion is back.
- You still perform and still show up, but something inside is shutting down.
- The best of you goes to work, and the people at home get what is left.
- You have tried the obvious fixes: more sleep, exercise, better scheduling. They help until Monday.
- You keep asking yourself whether this is burnout, stress, or just who you are now.
Why the usual advice doesn't stick
Most people under sustained pressure already know the standard advice. They know, and it still doesn't work. That gap is important information. It usually means the problem isn't only the workload, but the relationship between you and your work, and the patterns that keep it in place. Burnout can come from chronic overload, interpersonal conflict, leadership isolation, unclear boundaries, organizational tension, personal patterns, and often several of these at once. Rearranging the calendar doesn't reach any of those.
What happens in the session
Bring one situation you have been turning over alone. In a focused 60–90 minute consultation, we:
- map what is actually happening, beyond the symptoms
- identify the factors creating the most pressure, and the ones keeping it in place
- separate what needs attention now from what can wait
You don't need to prepare or have it figured out. Coming in unsure what kind of problem this is, is exactly the point.
What you leave with
A written one-page synthesis of our conversation: the key patterns we identified, practical action points, and selected resources you can use on your own.
What happens next
For some people, one session gives enough clarity to move forward independently. If the situation calls for deeper work, the Root Cause Session becomes the starting point for Sustainable by Design, four to eight weeks of focused work tailored to you, your relationships, or the people involved. There is no obligation either way.
